A downloadable tool for Windows and Linux
BooBoo is a mini "high-level assembly-like" language with an API for graphics, sounds and animations from one of the lead designers of the API used by Factorio and more.
The example it comes with is a music video for one of my songs which you can see on YouTube. Some of the slides are mini-games you can play with 1 or 2 gamepads. The example has its own sounds (not the song from the video.)
Some things it supports are:
- Very powerful custom MML music/sfx format
- Graphics primitives
- TTF fonts
- Math functions
- Joystick support
- Saving/loading information
You can compress your data directory into a datafile but right now you'll need to build the source to do so because I haven't included the tool (yet) because I don't know if anyone will use this. Included in the source are tgui6 and shim4, which respectively are a platform-independant GUI library and a gamedev toolkit built on SDL2.
You may distribute a copy of BooBoo.exe (BooBoo on Linux) with your apps. Or build and customize to your desire. The code is MIT licensed. If you change the code you must abide by the license, but if not then just copy BooBoo.exe along with your main.boo and other files. You can change the taskbar/window icons by replacing them (up to 256 pixels will be loaded, but 16 and 24 look good on Windows.)
